2022 Maserati Levante – The Maserati Levante sports an upscale, sporty look, first popularized in Ferrari’s GranTurismo S models. In 2021, the Levante made its debut in the prestigious Geneva Motor Show as an aspirational sports vehicle. The new Levante is lighter and more maneuverable than any production car, even the new Maserati GranTurismo S. With its new lightweight construction and lower drag, the Levante makes a great entry-level sports car. In this review we’ll take a closer look at the new Maserati Levante.
What You Have to Get From 2022 Maserati Levante
The new 2022 Maserati Levante has a sporty, upscale look, first popularized in Ferrari’s GranTurismo S models. Like the GranTurismo S, the Levante is powered by two powerful, turbocharged V8 engines. These are mated to twin-stick automatic transmissions, the second of which is also a direct-injected, high-performance version of the GranTurismo S’s. This SUV gets its name from its new, sporty profile–and its aggressive, rear-end, long-line design.
Maserati claims that the new Levante’s aerodynamic, side-curve body shape helps reduce drag, which explains its low drag coefficient (that means lower air resistance, less drag). The V8 engines have been tuned to produce more power while using less fuel.
For an all-around, luxury passenger vehicle, the Levante comes standard with leather interior and bucket seats, although the standard list of options includes only factory standard headlamps, headlights, fog lights, and taillights. The new, led matrix headlights used on the Levante are led by a pair of HID projector lamps mounted behind the front grille.
Other options on the i include projector fog lights, which help improve visibility on wet or dark roads. The new mid-mounted, 2.0l Maserati IMX-T Coupes (equipped with the standard IMX-T high-tech six-spoke cast magnesium frame) provide the same strong handling capabilities found in the coupe, but are available in SUV and mid-sized versions.
A standard Levante sedan has front and rear seats that recline, but the all-wheel drive system on the rear seats allows for a manual (or optional automatic) height adjustment. The Levante also offers an optional roof rack and cargo netting, as well as front and rear seat spoilers, a sport exhaust, and rear spoilers, a sport bar, and brake assist.
Maserati also offers a full complement of performance parts, such as Brembo and suspensions for the four corners of the rear seats. The Brembo brakes offer dual-compound technology. The air springs and struts are designed for efficient dynamic braking, and include components to assist power delivery from the electric motor, to the brakes. The performance exhaust includes a catalytic converter, exhaust pipes, and tip valves.
The most powerful vehicle in the range is the 2022 Maserati Levante SUV, which offers both powerful acceleration and class-leading handling. The most refined model is the new Maserati Levante xD, which has a lightweight bodywork and massive torque. The xD uses an advanced two-stage Adaptive Air Suspension system, front and rear air bags, and a high-tech dual-adjustable stability control. Maserati has continued to improve the size of its battery and the weight of its drivetrain, resulting in further improvements to the Levante.
The 2022 Maserati Levante makes a powerful sports car that is also highly practical. The all-wheel drive allows it to take on the most technologically demanding roads, thanks to its lightweight structure. The low profile of the bodywork and aggressive stance lend the Maserati Levante a sporty image, whilst the powerful V-tech engines help to deliver strong power and efficient performance.
Maserati has also improved the reliability of its driveless magnesium aluminium tubular sectioned drivetrain. The Levante is available with a choice of three types of engines: a 1.3-litre fuel-burnermotor with manual transmission; a two-litre sump fuel-burnermotor with manual gearbox; and a six-litre sump petrol-burnermotor with the optional automatic gearbox. Each engine comes with unique manual and automatic gearchanged and automatic transmissions.
With a full complement of engineering innovations and styling additions, the new 2022 Maserati Levante is one of the most striking and stylish supercars in the world today. The standard Levante models continue to enjoy an agile tractability that makes it a joy to drive, even for inexperienced drivers.
However, there has been a slight increase in handling stiffness when compared to the previous generation, which might be surprising for many owners, but can be put down to increased strength in the frame and an easier quattroporte sedan bodywork. This sedan model also benefits from stronger, aluminium frame parts, such as the front strut brace.
